Just Adulting Things Part II

Hopefully I'll have some better things to update with later this week (or next week rather), but earlier this week, after my husband had just recently fixed our pipes in the shower, the water pump in our well broke. We have gone three days so far without running water and I am so annoyed. Of course, on top of that a SNOW STORM hit, so our yard is covered in snow and ice (I haven't been to work the past 2 days because of it), so Oat (my husband)'s dad can't come up to help him fix it until the snow melts. Maybe that will be this weekend? Which of course, puts a damper on our Valentine's Day... But whatever, showering and having water to wash the dishes is more important than that. We can celebrate next weekend if we have to.

While Oat is the one bringing buckets of water into the house, I feel like I'm back in Mexico because of that. I encountered many places where we had to fill the toilet tanks up with water from a barrell before we could flush. It just sucks he has to go out in the cold to gather the water.

I also had a doctor's appointment on Monday, where I found out that I have a heart murmur. This is not good news. There are three main things that usually kill members of my family and it's:

1. Cancer, which I've already had. I've been in remission for 13 years now, but that doesn't mean it won't come back and kill me later.
2. Mental Illness, which I also have. It's not been fun. The doctor actually put me back on psychiatric meds, so hopefully these will help!
3. Heart Problems, which of course I've avoided until now. I go to the Cardiologist next Monday to see what's really going on.

Fun times. I have been wondering why I'm so out of breath when I do anything physical, and I guess that explains it. I'm not a big girl, and I used to work out a lot when I was an older teen, and when I lived overseas I'd walk miles and miles every day. So, it never made sense to me that my stamina suddenly dropped that bad. Hopefully the doctors will have suggestions on how I can "fix" (or at least maintain) my heart health.

WELP, if I get any news, I'll let you guys know. Until then~

Just Adulting Things

I applied for a new position within my job over the past weekend! The last time it took me over a month and a half to hear about an interview (so long, in fact, that I’d forgotten I’d applied). I like my current job, so it’s no loss if I don’t get it. But, if I do get it, then I get to move to another office on campus (one with a WINDOW) and get paid more and learn more things!

I let my supervisor / boss know since obviously word travels fast across campus and because I used him as a reference. He jokingly said, “I hope you don’t get it!” because he doesn’t want me to leave lol, so at least I know I’m appreciated and useful here!

Monday afternoon was my consultation to have my last problem tooth extracted. I thought I was going to actually get the tooth out, but no. Consultation only. They’ll take the tooth out in early April. And to top it off, the like… assistant oral surgeons? Whatever the equivalent is to a dental hygienist at a dentist’s office… They were so damn rude. I could hear them outside my office bad mouthing me (for answers I put on my medical form!!!) and also saying some man in another office smelled like ass and they didn’t want to be around him. I was uncomfortable the entire time I was there and just wanted to leave.

Tuesday made up for Monday afternoon though. I took the day off, partly because I wasn’t sure if I was actually getting my tooth extracted, and partly because I needed to run a lot of errands. My husband took off too so we could spend the day together. We went to the car place and they put new tires on my car, did an alignment, and a state inspection which I passed! We also went to the bank to fill out a form, the consignment shop to drop off some clothes (they didn’t take as much as I wanted them to), went for a walk around a park, and then got groceries.By the time we got home it was late. My husband messed around with our shower, which something had been wrong with the drain, so I was having to shower at the gym at work… But he got it fixed! So I was able to shower at home again! Hallelujah!

However, when we got home that night, since it was later and my routine was out of whack, I forgot to plug my damn car in (it’s an EV with a very low mileage range). So, of course, I woke up the next day to go to work and my car hadn’t charged overnight!! I was frustrated, but that did afford me another hour and a half at home before I had to leave. I was tired all damn day, then had to go to a high school for an event that supposedly 22 families signed up to attend, but only 5 showed up. Woo! I was only there an hour, then went home.

I didn’t sleep well last night either. I pushed “sleep” on three alarms, which is not normal for me, and I got roped into doing another high school event today. At least I didn’t have to drive, so I got to ride in the van, and then after we were done, all of us in attendance were starving so our coworker stopped at Wendy’s and we all had lunch together. That was fun!

I’m going to sleep early tonight though. I’m exhausted. At least tomorrow is Friday! I’m buying Korean hot dogs for dinner. And again, I am actually sooooo excited for Valentine’s this year… Only one more week!
