2025 TV Reviews

So, this one's going to have to be continued when season 3 comes out and we watch that. We re-watched season 1 before season 2 so we could remember what happened, and even though it took 4 years (!!) for the follow ups to come out, the show is still amazing. I love the social commentary, and while Hwang (the writer) hasn't admitted it, this is actually inspired by true events! So, it's important, in my opinion, that the world watches this and realizes that shit like this, while somewhat exaggerated, really happens. Read about Brother's Home and maybe check out the RottenMango podcast about it as well!

I have been hearing about this show for years and had no idea what the hell it was. Then, when I started reading about it, when I realized Melanie Lynsky and Christina Ricci were in it, I was like "fine, I guess I'll watch it" especially knowing that a new season is coming out this year. It's a fun, tense, and nostalgic watch! And I love the soundtrack! Season 3 just recently ended and OH BOY what a ride it's been so far! I am SO excited for season 4, and I hope it doesn't take like 2 years to come out.

★★★☆☆

This is an anime series I've wanted to watch for years, since it's written by Satoshi Kon and Susumu Hirasawa does the music. I've seen images and stills from it throughout my life, but hey, it's okay that it only took me 21 years to actually finally see it! I'll... be honest with you, I expected more than what I got. I get the story, I've read up on what it means, but I still don't like it as much as I thought I would, or as much as I like Satoshi Kon's other stuff. The theme song is killer though!

Futurama

This, of course, is the new iteration of Futurama, because if you're a Futurama fan, you know it's been cancelled like... twice (? three times?). This is the newer season / series on Hulu, which picks up where they left off in 2013. The humor, style, and feel of it seems to be the same to me. The ending of this season reminded me of the series finale from back in 2013, but not as heartwrenching? Either way, I still had fun watching this, and I guess there will be more since it was renewed for a tenth season which is supposed to air this year!

LEGITIMATELY SUCH A GOOD SHOW. I have been wanting to watch this for years, and my sister finally convinced me to bite the bullet. She was telling me how funny it was, and damn she was right. You want to hate all the characters, because of how stupid they are, but I find myself pulling for them, despite how dysfunctional they all are. Walton Goggins is so damn funny in this show, and I love John Goodman. I never thought I'd actually like Danny McBride in anything (anything I've seen him in prior has made him out to be a d-bag) and while he is still a d-bag in this show, he's so hard to hate! I've got a newfound interest in Edi Patterson and Adam DeVine too, although Keefe (Tony Cavalero) and BJ, who I'm convinced is just grown up Butters from South park (played by Tim Baltz) my favorite character for sure. I can't wait to see how this ends!

Bob's Burgers

★★★★☆

Ugh, I love Bob's Burgers. Kinda like with The Simpsons, every once in a while we restart this series and binge watch all the episodes in like a month or two. That's what we did recently and I forget how crazy some of the earlier episodes were lol, they've toned it down a bit in the later years. But the humor has remained the same, and it's so fun to watch. If you squished Louise and Tina together, you woulda had me as a kid. The newer episodes are set to start up again in May, and I'm super excited to watch them!
