2025 Movie Reviews
[Jan 17]
Profile (2018) ★★☆☆☆
I was sick when I watched this, but it doesn't change my opinion that it's a stupid movie. I mean, the main girl is INSANELY dumb, but I guess she was supposed to be. Shazad Latif was pretty hot in it though, I guess I can see why she'd be impelled to join ISIS for him lol

Digging Up The Marrow (2014) ★★★★☆
This was a fun movie! A mockumentary about monster hunting, starring the guy who made the movie, because it's pretending to be real. It has Ray Wise in it, and he's always good.

Franklyn (2008) ★★☆☆☆
I... don't know what I thought this was going to be, but it definitely wasn't this.

Red Rooms "Les chambres rouges" (2008) ★★★★☆
Now
this was good. Kept me on edge the entire time, and while I was a little confused about it, even after it was over, I just kept thinking about it!

Lovely, Dark, and Deep (2023) ★★★☆☆
Unfortunately, I was hoping for more out of this movie. I can see why a lot of people thought it was super boring though. I nearly stopped paying attention half-way through the movie.

Wonka (2023) ★★★☆☆
Timothée Chalamet is very talented and I can see why people like him, but they shoulda called this "The Noodle Movie" because I don't think this characterized Wonka well at all.

Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008) ★★★★★
Oh man, okay, the little Hot Topic kid in me came out while watching this movie. This was my first time watching it, and I can see why all the mall goths and emo kids were obsessed with it when we were in grade school!

Sting (2024) ★★★★☆
Alright, this was a fun movie. Kinda campy and stupid, but there's a giant spider, and the little girl reminds me of me as a child, so I really liked it!

Uncut Gems (2019) ★★☆☆☆
I have literally only heard praise being sung for this movie, so I watched it, and felt anxious the entire time. But not in a good way. I read this is similar (slightly more dramatized) to how people on Diamond Row really live? I would literally kill myself if I had to live life like that.

The Devil's Carnival (2012) ★★★☆☆
Another Terrance Zdunich film (the man who wrote and starred in Repo!) and this one was alright. I love the theme of carnival from Hell (or carnival in Hell?) but it wasn't as good as Repo! in my opinion.
[Feb 08]
Lisa Frankenstein (2024) ★★★★☆
This is a cute movie! The description is misleading though, because it says Lisa has a crush on the corpse, but in reality she has a crush on some chode at school, which made it feel like her zombie boyfriend was an anfterthought (he was better for sure). I
loved the aesthetic!

Villains (2019) ★★☆☆☆
I may love Bill Skarsgård, but this movie was kinda dumb.

Jennifer's Body (2009) ★★★★☆
How have I gone my whole... well, 16 years without seeing this movie? I was in high school when it came out. About to graduate, so the same age as the characters. I can see why people liked it!
House on the Bayou (2021) ★★☆☆☆
I don't really know what the hell I got myself into when I started watching this movie. The "little girl" (daughter) dresses like a 30 year old, and the dad sucks. The boy though, played by Jacob Lofland, definitely stood out as the best. He reminded me of Jim Varney who I LOVE!
Nosferatu (2024) ★★★★☆
Alright, I don't love it but I definitely don't hate it. I honestly hadn't realized that Nosferatu was just a German re-telling of the original Dracula story until a few weeks before I watched this movie. The design for Orlok was cool and all, but the 1992 Bram Stoker's Dracula is still going to be the sexiest version of this story to me!
Heretic (2024) ★★★☆☆
Another meh for me. I mean, the story did keep me on my toes, but I think the story kinda fell flat at the end of the day? The only benefit was Sophie Thatcher, who is
such a great actress. And it was fun to learn that the two main actresses (Sophie included) are ex-Mormons.
The Whole Truth [ปริศนารูหลอน] (2021) ★★★☆☆
A fun Thai horror film, but not one of my favorites. The main girl that plays Pim though, Sutatta Udomsilp, looks JUST like a Thai version of Sofia Hublitz from Ozark. Please tell me I'm not imagining this!
Man of the Year (2006) ★★★★☆
Aw, I love and miss Robin Williams so much. This was a fun movie, and funny that I just mentioned Ozark in my comments on "The Whole Truth", because Laura Linney from Ozark is in this one too!
Double Blind (2023) ★★★☆☆
This was okay, I didn't feel to close to any of the characters, but I like seeing Pollyanna McIntosh! Plus, it's cool that the setting reminds me of The Institute from Fallout 4.
The Gorge (2025) ★★★★☆
This was a fun movie! I liked the concept and the designs, which (according to IMDB) are supposedly based off of the art of Zdzislaw Beksinski, which I love! Anyways, I usually love anything Anya Taylor-Joy is in, and this movie gave me a positive opinion of Miles Teller.
Vivarium (2019) ★★★★☆
Okay, so I finally watched this movie and it was
creepy. Probably because I hate kids and the idea of being a mother IS a horror story to me... So, this was very effective. It also reminds me of something I've read called "Sour Candy" by Kealan Patrick Burke.
Lowlifes (2024) ★★★☆☆
I didn't really know what to expect with this one, because I didn't read the premise before watching it. However, I figured out what was going to happen before it happened, so it's not a hard movie to make guesses about. Kinda mad about the ending...
Dinner in America (2020) ★★★★★
I had no idea what this movie was about before watching it, I'd only heard the song "Watermelon" sung by the main actress and thought it sounded cool, so I figured I'd check it out. I LOVE IT SO MUCH! Kyle Gallner in this is super hot too as a loud-mouth punk rocker.

Black Widow (2021) ★★★★☆
I'm not a fan of Marvel anymore, but this movie was alright. It was funny because my husband and I were commenting on how the little girl playing young ScarJo in this movie could play a young Milla Jovovich... Only to find out that that's her daughter (ᵕ—ᴗ—) Whoops.
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) ★★★★☆
Definitely my favorite of the original Avengers movies. I didn't know, when I first watched it, that I'd come out liking Captain America the best (because let's face it... I'd be a hardcore villain in a world of superheroes), but I love him!

Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005) ★★★★☆
We went out and saw this one in theatres with my sister and brother-in-law for the anniversary screening and it was so fun watching on the big screen! I've always loved Anakin!
Final Destination 2 (2003) ★★★★☆
With the original Final Destination movies, the quality just gets progressively worse and worse. Thankfully, number 2 is still good, but I think the inclusion of Ali Larter helps with that.
Final Destination 3 (2006) ★★★★☆
I'm actually not sure which one is better - 2 or 3. This one is fun because it features a theme park, and it has the infamous tanning bed scene! Plus, some of the actors in it are people I remember from my younger years. So, this one is pretty solid too.
The Final Destination (2009) ★☆☆☆☆
Alright, from here, I know there are only 2 left, but it's all downhill. This one
really sucked. I guess this was around the time 3D movies were a big thing (WHY?!) because it's so gimmicky and stupid. Although, what's funny about this one was it features a race track, and the weekend after I watched it, I went to a race... So, I couldn't get that scene out of my mind!
Final Destination 5 (2011) ★☆☆☆☆
Ugh. Rough. More 3D gimmicky shit. Jacqueline MacInnes Wood is in this one! She played Steffy Forrester in The Bold and the Beautiful (I'm old, so I used to watch soap operas religiously, even as a teenager lol). The ending to this one is funny though!
Companion (2025) ★★★★☆
This was alright. I like watching Sophie Thatcher in just about anything, because I think she's a great actress, and rogue AI is fun. I'd be one of those people who would definitely be BFFs with an android. So, good for her in the end!
[May 10]
The Rule of Jenny Pen (2025) ★★★★☆
This was... uncomfortable and maddening, which I guess is what it's supposed to be. I was really hoping for a better back story for John Lithgow's character, so, that was disappointing since it didn't go in the way I wanted it to. BUT his kiwi accent was pretty good!
[May 10]
The Monkey (2025) ★★★★☆
Fun, and quite similar in a way to Final Destination. I mostly remember Theo James as being the guy that Mary loses her virginity to in Downton Abbey lol, so turns out, he's a pretty good actor in other things too. This one is fun!
[May 16]
Hellboy: The Crooked Man (2024) ★★★☆☆
This was, uh, alright I guess. I'm just kinda miffed of the portrayal of Appalachian people, since I am one. The accents were wrong. And overall the story was just kinda lacking.
[May 17]
Final Destination Bloodlines (2025) ★★★★★
WOW, this is how you do a continuation! No overly horny annoying teens / young adults (thank GOD we're kinda over that trope) because I liked that this one featured a family. Really, this one made me cringe with EVERY death scene. And Tony Todd's last performance, his monologue about death, OH MAN it made me emotional!!!
[May 17]
Locked (2025) ★★☆☆☆
I really don't get the positive reviews this movie has... I didn't really like it. Both white-trash Bill Skarsgård and bored
potentially psychopathic Anthony Hopkins were pieces of shit. I hated the ending. I wanted them both to die.
[May 18]
Boy Kills World (2023) ★★★★★
I'm going to imagine that this movie wasn't very popular because of the way it was marketed. Truth be told, I thought it looked stupid too when I first saw the trailer, but this turned out to be SO FUN! Don't trust the negative reviews on it, just watch it!
